We have had many squirrels come up to the house to eat up all the bird food which is not intended for them. They do have their own share of corn in several trees around the house! I personally think they are cute and I love to watch them throughout the day. Ricky, on the other hand, doesn't find that so entertaining. He doesn't like them eating up all the bird food, much less getting into his deer feeders to eat the corn. Ricky and Sheldon decided to shoot one in our front yard this afternoon to make some bait for trapping. Problem solved for now. Those country boys....
We also have a lot of chickens on our place. I love watching the eggs hatch and raising the cute chicks, but once they are full grown they sure do know which button to push with me when it comes to messing up my flower beds! I know they don't mean it; they are just scr
atching up the mulch and dirt looking for yummy bugs to eat (thanks to them we have less bugs this year). I told Ricky we would have to build a fence in the front sometime in the next year to keep them out! We built a fence for the back yard last year right before we moved here and the chickens have stayed out unless someone leaves the gate open. Any suggestions for the time being until we get the fence up in the front?? I've already tried putting vinegar and moth balls in the flower beds...neither seem to work.
