The visitors are back!

Now that it has cooled off and we have corn in the feeder in front of the house, we have had a few visitors lately. Yesterday we saw three does close to the driveway...LOVE IT!!!

Prepping for Bow Season

It's that time of the year again for avid deer hunters! October 1st is the first day of bow season and Ricky could not be any happier. I went with him and his uncle, Ronnie, today to watch them get their deer stands and feeders all set up. It was pretty funny to watch them...ha! We went to Uncle Ronnie's deer feeder first to fix the timer on the feeder, put up the game camera, and fix the deer stand wayyyy up high in one of the trees. I climbed up to see what it was like and let me just say it was HIGH! I told Ricky he had better wear his belt if he goes up there! After we were done, we drove over to Ricky's feeder and the guys put up another stand in one of the trees...not too high so I felt better. We all had a good time and I enjoyed going with the guys since I am not able to do that as much as I would like to these days. Now bring on the fried venison!!

Look closely and you will see a red rectangle around the deer stand in the tree!

Baby Kittens

Do you recall my post not too long ago about bringing several cats home with us? Well the mama cat got pregnant shortly after being here and she delivered her kittens today. As soon as I realized she was pregnant I put her in one of the chicken coops to keep her confined. I didn't want anything killing the kittens when they were born and we also don't need any more running around the place!! Anyway, after watching her and feeding her more throughout the day for the last three weeks, the kids and I were able to watch the "miracle of life" which was a great learning experience for Kalyn and Sheldon. The kids were really in awe with it and had many, many questions as you can probably imagine!! :o) As soon as the kittens are six weeks old we will be giving them away to new homes.

Mud puddles

The kids were so excited to see water standing around the place after we got some good rain this week. After putting on their rain boots they decided to ride their bikes through the puddles...they had such fun getting all dirty! :o)
