Our "Country" Kids

Mimi (Ricky's mom) and I took the kids to get their pictures done today and they turned out GREAT! Here is just one of my favorites!! As I looked at the pictures I couldn't believe how much they had grown in just the last year.

Our new "pets"

We got four heifers from my dad a couple weeks ago. Kalyn and Sheldon each have their own heifer to start their college fund with the calves they have each year. When the heifers first got here they were a bit nervous around us, but now they're really friendly! We've been giving them some cubes almost every evening just like Granden does with his cows in Llano. Yesterday evening was the first time they would come to the kids and eat right out of their hands...it was fun and exciting for them! It warms my heart to watch my kids experience country life!

Look who else has been in my flowers!

This little guy was in our backyard last night. We were eating supper and I spotted him nibbling in the grass. He slowly hopped towards one of my flower beds...then he hopped right into it! We figured since it is so dry these days our backyard with carpet grass and flowers must be a "gourmet restaurant" for all the critters!

Happy Birthday Daddy!! (aka Granden)

Today is my dad's birthday. He is the best dad a girl could ever ask for. Carie and I are so blessed to have him in our lives. He has always been there for us and continues to be a great example to us and others around him. Daddy is also very special to his grandkids who fondly call him "Granden." They love going with him on the gator to feed the cows and they also know he always has bubblegum for them whenever they see him! Have a wonderful day Daddy/Granden and know that your girls and grandkids love you very much!!

We're Home!

We enjoyed our special time with Caleb, Carie, Colten, and Cambry. The boys had fun playing outside and Kalyn and I enjoyed holding Miss Cambry as much as we could. She has been a wonderful baby...very content and easy-going. Carie and Caleb are HAPPY to be home again and we look forward to seeing them again soon!! Here are a few pictures from our visit with the Chances...we love you guys!

Family Fun

We had a fantastic family reunion this past weekend! We had hamburgers on Thursday evening, a fish fry on Friday evening, and the famous Osbourn Barbeque on Saturday for lunch. We were SO full on Sunday!! Even though it was H-O-T we all had fun visiting and catching up with what we all were up to, swimming at the slab, fishing, looking at old picture albums, and playing various games. The kids were really fun to watch as they enjoyed playing with all their cousins. We are truly blessed to have a big close-knit family!

We're READY!

This weekend is our annual Osbourn family reunion. My grandfather is the 9th child in his family of 9 kids and they have always been very close knit. All the decendants of those 9 kids still gather together every summer on the river for a full weekend of swimming, fishing, visiting, and eating!! We are looking forward to it and will share more pics after we return home on Monday. The picture below shows how many cookies (chocolate chip and oatmeal) the kids helped me bake this morning to take to the river tomorrow to share with all our aunts, uncles, and cousins...YUM-O!!

Roosters and Hens

We have two full-grown roosters with completely different physical appearances and personalities. The first one was given the name of "Roo-Roo" by the kids. He is pretty much in charge of all the chickens around here. He is aggressive and would sometimes chase us before he got several good kicks from us and stopped doing that. I personally think he is prettier than the other rooster, but Ricky seems to think otherwise. The other rooster doesn't have a name, but he is very reserved and timid. He is a strange looking rooster, but very unique! It is funny to watch them both run after all the hens...you can definitely see the jealousy!

Now about the hens...they seem to be the ones who cause more trouble these days! They are the ones who got into my flowerbeds. Thanks to Ricky they seem to have stopped doing that. BUT...I caught a hen in one of my planters this afternoon! Not only that, several other hens decided to "relax" in the dirt against the side of our house! I guess it was cooler there today?? Who knows! I thought it was pretty funny.

Gotta Love Him!

I have the sweetest husband! Remember those chickens getting into my flowerbed?? Well, Ricky surprised me by fixing what the chickens messed up while I was gone. He planted new flowers and even put up a wire fence to hopefully keep the chickens out! He never ceases to amaze me. I am so thankful to be married to this wonderful guy. Thank you Ricky, I love you!

Back to normal!

Kalyn and Sheldon went to Llano with my parents (aka Granden and Oni) after Carie's baby shower last weekend. Ricky and I enjoyed some "alone" time and I was able to get alot done around the house without any interruptions. It was NICE! I met my mom, her twin sister (Aunt Joni or "Aunt Mom" to me), and the kids at Old Navy in Georgetown yesterday. We shopped and ate great mexican food then it was time to get on the road to head home. The kids had a blast in Llano and have been wonderful since getting home...so far! They've enjoyed swimming in our pool, playing with sidewalk chalk, and they even slept until 8 this morning!! We shall see how long it lasts before the bickering starts....thanks Granden and Oni for the wonderful time the
kids had!

Baby Shower Weekend

Carie, my sister, is VERY pregnant with my precious niece, Cambry Lynae. She was blessed this weekend with two awesome showers given by her boss from work and good friends from church. The food and cakes were so yummy and Carie got so many cute and "girly" outfits for Cambry. It was fun to visit with all of Carie's friends and spend some time with Carie, my brother-in-law Caleb, and my nephew, Colten. Our parents were there with us as well and of course the grandkids were excited to see them! Thanks Carie....Kalyn and I (and Sheldon too) enjoyed being with you this weekend and we can't wait to meet Cambry! We love ya'll!

School's OUT!!

This picture says it all...I'm "FINISHED!!" Kalyn had been counting down the days until the last day of school since March. She had a wonderful year in Kindergarten and we are very proud of how much she has learned and accomplished. Now we can all enjoy HOT summer days!!
