We decided to buy a bull. Our heifers are now old enough to be bred and we started the search a few months ago. Ricky and I went back and forth between different breeds, buying vs. borrowing a bull, etc. One day Ricky stumbled across an ad about a longhorn bull for a great price. Yes, you read correctly...a LONGHORN bull! The four of us drove out to Copperas Cove to meet Lil' Bit and to find out if he was really a good deal...he really was! He was very tame and gentle with us...I'd never seen a bull like him! Being as small as he is we figured he would be a good bull for our heifers since they will hopefully be calving towards the end of this year for their first time. We brought him home with us and he has done very well in his new home...welcome Lil' Bit!! Now, let's just hope the "birds and bees" talk doesn't come up sooner than it has to!! :o(
