Ricky has always loved chickens. He raised them as a kid and continues to enjoy them now. He has recently decided to raise several kinds of poultry and sell their eggs/chicks. So, needless to say, we've been busy! We got an incubator to keep the eggs in until they are ready to hatch and Ricky made another one for them to hatch in. Being the wonderful wife I am, the incubators are IN the house...one is in my dining room! It is just too hot outside to maintain the correct temperature. Since we will be raising several kinds we decided we needed to add a roof behind our shed to cover the pens, cages, and brooders. We will be raising different types of chickens, guineas, quail, ducks, and pheasants. Now we are waiting for several 100s of eggs to hatch so we can raise them and start selling their eggs/chicks from there. We currently have 13 little keets (baby guineas) in one of the brooders. Kalyn and Sheldon have really gotten into checking the incubators with Ricky and checking on the chicks during the day. I am reminded again how blessed the kids are to be able to experience country life....such fun!!

Of course Kalyn and Sheldon had to check it out
Second batch of baby keets in the hatchery

13 baby keets in brooder (they will stay here for about 5 weeks before we move them to cage/pen)
Here are the chickens we have been rasing (look at previous post during Spring to see pics of them as baby chicks)
