The ONE thing I don't like about country life...SNAKES!!!

I can stand the bugs and spiders, but snakes really freak me out!! I have been so lucky the last two weeks to see TWO snakes up close and personal. The first one was a copperhead. I was getting ready to mow my mother in law's yard last week and she wanted to move two potted plants out of the way. We moved one and it was heavy so she decided to not move the other one. I started to mow and right when I went past that potted plant that we didn't move I saw him. He was all comfortable between the tree and the pot. I ran to the shed and grabbed a hoe and gave him a good beating. It was the first snake I ever killed myself and I hope it will be the last....doubt it! Then just a few days ago Ricky saw a water moccasin slither across our yard past the back door. The snake decided to take a rest right next to our house behind one of my planting boxes. Ricky got his gun and finally got him to come out of hiding so he could shoot him. Sheldon loves snakes just like Daddy Ricky does so he was really excited to see the dead snake when he got home. EEEKKK!!!

LOL! At least the snakes I come across aren't dangerous. I tried to kill a rat snake our first year in this house with a dull shovel and hoe...he left the shed bent and mad. Oops. Which reminds me...I haven't sharpened the yard tools yet.
