Colorado Trip Day 2

We were up early ready to get back on the road. After eating breakfast at the motel and fueling up, we were on our way to Kansas. Kalyn and Sheldon watched a bunch of dvds, colored, and played a couple games. Ryder just entertained himself with his new toys, watched his "Baby Einstein" dvds and napped. We stopped to eat lunch at Braums and really, really liked it. I guess you could say it is a version of DQ with a small market inside. Ryder loved their ice cream and we all enjoyed the treat. Oklahoma wasn't a bad drive and there was pretty scenery along the way....but Kansas is a different story! It started out okay, but the further we got from Oklahoma, the flatter the land became and more plains were seen along the way. We saw fields of sunflowers which I just loved (my favorite flower) and realized that was their state flower!! I really wanted to take a picture in one of the fields, but just didn't see a good place to pull over to do that. Darn!! After awhile we started seeing the "Great Plains" which had many, many wind turbines as far as the eye could see. It was neat to see, but at the same time we didn't like it either! Just can't imagine living somewhere with no trees!! :o) The kids were getting really tired of being in the van by late afternoon so we stopped for supper at Golden Corral to take a long break and stretch out. After stuffing ourselves, we decided to drive just a little further to Colby, KS where we would spend the night. Ricky and I promised the kids we could swim so that is what we did as soon as we checked in...we all enjoyed it very much and crashed once we got back to the room. Tomorrow is the day...Estes Park!!!!
