Port Aransas!!

We all went to Port Aransas over the weekend with Ricky's family--Pat/Mimi, Uncle Brad, and Aunt Damary. It had been two years since we had gone to the beach so the kids and I were excited...Ricky not so much, BUT he had fun once we got there just like he always does!! Pat, Brad, and Damary met us for lunch at Granny's in Lexington before we headed south. We had to make quite a few stops on the way for this preggo momma, but we were in no hurry and just enjoyed the drive there. Brad and Ricky had a fit when we saw the sign for the wait to get on the ferry...45 minutes. It really wasn't that bad and like I always tell Ricky, it just isn't the same without going on the ferry!! He will never understand. :o) We got settled in our room at La Mirage and cooked hamburgers for supper. Kalyn and Sheldon were ready to hit the beach soon after we ate so off we went to let them enjoy some waves before it got dark. It felt so good to walk in the sand!! The kids also wanted to check out the pool before going to bed so we did that and they had fun.

Saturday we woke up to a great breakfast cooked by Pat then we spent the rest of the morning playing on the beach...swimming, wading, making sand castles, collecting shells, and riding the waves on a raft. Before long it was time to head back to our room for another great meal of Pat's...taco salad. It was so good! Brad, Damary, and Pat decided to nap most of the afternoon while the rest of us watched a little TV then we headed to the pool to swim until it was time to get ready for supper. Pat joined us and we all enjoyed just taking it easy and relaxing at the pool. We all decided to go out for supper so we got dressed and went to Trout Street Bar and Grill for some seafood. The atmosphere there is always great and the kids really enjoy looking at all the yachts in the marina. After supper Ricky and I decided we needed some ice cream so we took the kids to look for an ice cream parlor and we found one that we really liked. There were lots of fun signs in there and the ice cream hit our sweet spot. The kids wanted to go back to the beach again while it was still light so Ricky and I took them and took several great pictures of them having fun on their boogie boards. Pat joined us a little later and took some pictures of her own of the sunset...beautiful! We were all exhausted and headed back to the room to get a good night's sleep.

Pancakes were on the menu for breakfast...yum!! Thank you Pat for cooking for us!! We all wanted to go back to the beach one last time before we had to check out at noon so off we went. We asked a nice gentleman to take a family picture of us then we just had fun in the waves and sand until we decided to go to the pool one last time before heading back to the room to pack up. After showering and packing up the cars, we went to eat lunch at Jay's Seafood and Spaghetti Works. YUM!! We weren't quite ready to leave the island after lunch so we went on a dolphin watch cruise which was so much fun. We were able to see a lot of dolphins and the kids had a blast. There was a tank in the middle of the boat for the kids to play with different sealife animals...shells, crabs, baby lobster, etc. It was really neat. After our cruise we went our separate ways and we took the kids to one souvenir store to get their picture taken inside the great shark's mouth then bought us all t-shirts and toys for the kids before heading home. The wait for the ferry wasn't near as long as it was when we arrived on Friday so that made Ricky happy. We all had a GREAT time and can't wait to go back in 3 weeks with my family. Let the countdown begin!!! :o)
