Colorado Vacation Day 7

Well, we hated to see this day come.  It has been a wonderful family vacation and one we will always remember!!  We woke up fairly early this morning so we could go to the Garden of the Gods and Seven Falls before we actually started the l-o-n-g drive back home.  Like Pikes Peak, I had already seen the Garden of the Gods before.  I figured Ricky and the kids would enjoy it and they did.  The rock formations are really neat and it was fun to just walk around and look at everything.  The kids were disappointed that they weren't allowed to climb any of the rocks (park rules).  We took pictures with the balancing rock which is really cool...amazing!  After we were done there we headed to Seven Falls to see what it was all about.  It was pretty cool although the water was lower than usual making the waterfall slower.  The neat thing about this attraction was the elevator ride through the mountain to get to the top.  Also the kids were given a scavenger hunt type of activity to work on while touring the falls...they got a free gift (poster of the waterfall) on our way out.  It was fun!  We were all tired and hungry so we picked up some good Mexican food through the drive-through and started driving to Texas.

The drive this afternoon was tiring and we did not like the part of New Mexico that we drove through...the speed limit was miserable! Instead of going 70 mph most of the way we had to go between 50-60 mph alot of the way which seemed really s-l-o-w to us. And there was alot of construction too. We were soooo glad to cross the Texas border and drive faster! It was close to suppertime and we just did not want to drive any further so we decided to stop in Amarillo for the night. Our hotel was right next to Texas Roadhouse so that is where we ate our yummy supper. The hotel also had a very nice pool which we all enjoyed before going to bed. Tomorrow will be another L-O-N-G day as we drive all the way home, but it will be good to be home in our own beds this time tomorrow night. All three kids have done exceptionally well with all the driving we have done which definitely made things so much easier for all of us. This trip has been such a blessing and I am so thankful we were able to do this as a family this summer.
