An AGGIE day!!

Ricky and I have wanted to take Kalyn and Sheldon to an Aggie game for several years, but thought we needed to wait until they were old enough to really enjoy themselves and remember the experience.  This year with Sheldon really into football and understanding the sport better, we decided it would be a good time to actually go to an Aggie game.  We are SOOO glad we did because it was so much fun!  I was able to get tickets to the 6pm SMU game this past weekend so we decided to make a day of it to show the kids what Aggieland is all about.  We got into College Station at lunchtime so we parked on campus and walked to the Dixie Chicken.  Some of friends of ours from church were also in town for the game so they met us for lunch as well.  It was also their first time too!!  After lunch we did lots of walking on campus.  We went to see the bonfire memorial first which was humbling for me because it was the first time I had seen it myself.  We also showed the kids my dorm, the dining hall I would often eat at, the library, the education building where I took the majority of my classes, and several other popular spots on campus.  By the time we were done with all that it was time to head over to the Former Students' building for the kids' yell practice and the spirit walk.  The yell leaders came to show the kids several yells then the Aggie band was also there.  The spirit walk was especially cool because the football players were brought to where we were and dropped off to walk the rest of the way to Kyle Field.  We got a good glimpse of Johnny Manziel and the other players...so neat!!  As the crowd followed the team down the street, we headed over to the quad to see the corps and band "step off" before they marched to Kyle Field.  Kalyn and Sheldon loved this experience and were excited to see what their dad had been part of back when we were at A&M.  Words cannot describe the pride I felt and the spirit Aggieland has!  Soon it was time to head to Kyle Field to watch the Aggies BTHO SMU!!  The football game was the highlight of the day and we all enjoyed every part of it.  I am so proud of my school and am so excited and thankful that I was able to share that part of my life with my hubby and kids!!  We're already looking forward to going back to another game next year!!
