Ouch!

Ricky and I have been busy the last two evenings "doctoring" one of our cows. We noticed she was limping with her front right leg on Sunday. It looked like she had a piece or wire or something in her hoof and we decided to wait it out and see how she was doing the next day. Well, she wasn't any better yesterday so we had to borrow Uncle Jack's trailer to haul her over to his place. She surprised us by just walking right into the trailer without much coaxing...most cows are pretty stubborn. It was almost like she actually knew we were trying to help her. Anyway, we got her into the pen at Uncle Jack's and she surprised us again and walked right into the chute where we needed her to be. After Ricky finally got her hoof tied and lifted up we saw it...a nail! With pliers and a pull, Ricky got it out and boy, it had to hurt! We left her in the pen last night so we could give her a shot this evening (antibiotic in case of infection). I meant to take a picture of Ricky giving her the shot this evening, but got wrapped up in what was going on and forgot...ugh! Sorry! I had watched my daddy do this so many times so it was pretty neat to actually be doing it myself with my husband. I loved every minute of it!

Poor thing! How wonderful, though, that you're sharing the same memories with your kids that you had as a child (and probably cherish so much right now). I LOVE the pics of the kids at the beach. What wonderful memories you are making!!
