The Love of Horses

As a little girl I always dreamed of having my own horse one day. I remember asking my parents to get me one several times, but there really was no way since we lived in the big city of Austin. Thankfully I was able to get some experience with horses through my family in Llano. I remember all the horses my grandfather had at his house...Rocky, Buster, and Sanny. I loved riding Rocky and I remember when Buster was born on Mother's Day one year...I was in love! My sister and I loved going to the junior rodeos with my aunt and uncle to watch our cousins compete. They would let us ride their horses in the opening ceremonies and in between events...I loved that!! I also collected Breyer horses and read as many books about horses as I could. I still feel the joy everytime I see a horse today...they are beautiful!

Kalyn is now going through the exact same thing as I did...she has developed a love for horses as well. She has already asked Ricky and me to buy her one. I would LOVE to be able to do that someday, but Ricky will definitely need some convincing~HA! We told Kalyn she might have better luck with Granden getting her one!! :o) Anyway, today Kalyn was able to spend some time with a sweet friend of ours. Priscilla is the daughter of the owners of the cafe we love so much, Granny's. They live right beside the restaurant and while Ricky and I were working on our garage sale under their carport Priscilla saw Kalyn looking at the horses and came outside with some carrots. She showed Kalyn and Sheldon how to feed the horses and boy did they love that! Priscilla was so sweet with Kalyn for the next hour and half as she talked with her about horses. Kalyn had tons of questions for her and she was very patient with her and told her if it was okay with me she would get one saddled up for her to ride! Kalyn was SO excited and did very well. It was fun for me to see her joy in the whole experience and I am so appreciative of the time Priscialla gave to Kalyn. Thank you!!!

Getting the horse (Jr.) saddled up
Doesn't she look smitten?
And off they go for a ride
Notice the other horses are following them...ha!

I know the feeling...pure joy after a good ride!
